Do colors and characters really drag you into buying a product? After watching Super Size Me it became clear to me that because of Ronald McDonald and the colors and happy meals... all of the customers keep going back. To see someone sit there and eat McDonald's for 30 days straight and having to eat everything on the menu, it's disgusting to me. The fact that Michigan is up there in the fattest state in our country and people are becoming too lazy to even walk to get their food is terrible. After reading more about the movie online, it said that it was based to show people the corporate influence on our country and all over the world (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390521/plotsummary). It seems insane to me that because this little restaurant has such a large chain all over the world and has it's own cartoons, cookies, Halloween costumes and their own clown. Because of all of this advertisement, people are way over the fact that it's not good food for you, they changed their menu to a dollar meal...who wants to pay more food? The people behind this place are genius but what they don't seem to see/care about is the amount of people that are dying, or walking out of here with terrible health problems because of the fast food.
What do you think about the movie? How they advertise themselves? Do you eat all this fast food...enough to make you vomit outside your car window? (I would really hope not)

I thought that the movie was disgusting. Very rarely do I go to a fast food restaurant, order off their menu, and eat their food. It always gives me the worst stomach aches. I could never imagine eating McDonalds for 30 days straight and only walking a certain amount of steps per day. However, while watching the movie it made me realize how americans need to start changing their lifestyles. Most people eat poorly and then not get the exercise they need in order for them to maintain a wealthy weight. In the movie they mentioned that fast food and junk food spends a great deal of money on advertisements rather then the healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables. I think that healthy food companies should start to advertise more because they need to step up in order to help produce beter eating habits in america. McDonalds has a very smart adversiting strategy. It seems like they lure in the kids and younger population and because the kids want to go there, the parents have to eat there as well. Also, its very convineint on how fast their service is. If people are in a hurry in the morning and do not have time to have breakfast, they can just step into a McDonalds...since there is at least one evry five minutes...and grab something to eat. McDonalds conquered the food industry by their brilliant marketing and advertising.
I have seen the movie Super Size Me once before in foods class. I love the concept of the movie. It shows how unhealthy America has become, and how much we are influenced by advertising. If you ask a five year old where they want to eat, the majority of them will want McDonald's. McDonald's is trying to attract children by their fun toys, and play structures. It's causing many health problems in America's younger generation. I agree with Emily on the fact that the people behind McDonald's ideas are genius, but they're not thinking about the individuals who are consuming their products. I used to eat a lot of fast food, when you're really busy it's just so convenient. Plus who can beat paying only a dollar for a double cheeseburger? Recently I have stopped eating the majority of fast foods all together. Instead I pick sandwich and pita places. I don't go to fast food restaurants like McDonald's anymore because I realized how gross it really is.
I don't like the movie Super Size Me, I didn't use to have a problem with McDonalds before i watched this movie; but now I don't think I could ever eat there again. After learning about how much sugar and calories and everything that is in the food that they serve there, I realized how bad it is for your health, and how many srious problems it causes. Even though McDonald's food is not good for anyone, they do a good job advertising their products, especially to young children. All children love Ronald McDonald and all the toys that come in their kids meals; along with the play structures. And since the children always want to go there, they persuade their parents to go there as well. Even though McDonald's is quick and easy and doesn't take that much work, the service is not very good and the food looks like it is not always cooked. For all of these reasons I do not eat at McDonalds, and I don't know if I ever will be able to again.
I have seen the movie many times. I think the movie is unique and really targets the food industry. I also get a great amount of laughter from "super size me". Really, let’s face the truth people, it’s not the fast food companies that are making us fat. Only you and our daily decisions can make that choice. Only you can make a decision on what you want to eat. I think it’s ridiculous to blame the fast food companies for our obesity. McDonalds is a business. Just like every other fast food place. The goal of a business is to make money. No matter what the circumstances are, everyone is competing, because it’s a business. Don’t blame the companies for their persuasive ads, and there funny clowns that attract children; blame your self for making the decision of buying the product that is being advertised.
I think our society cares way to much about how things are sold and how things look. We need to focus more on improtant issues. Because of the cartoons and clowns people go there to eat without even thinking that the food could kill you. So many people could sue these fast food places because of all the oil and grease you use...but if you think about it I guess it wouldn't taste as good.
